The Taming of The Shrew Skit (FC)
We are finally done with The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, and I have to admit that this book was fun to read. Once you to get to understand the book through annotations and class discussions, the book allows you to be aware of how society is changing. I think doing a skit as the last part of the project for the book was a good idea. At first I didn't like it and I still kind of don't because I hate performing in front of people. The skit that my group created was very entertaining and we changed a lot of things from the play such as making one of the guys play the role of Katherine. Moreover, we made of the girls play the role of Petruchio and we added some modern language. When my group was done performing our skit, we received positive feedback. Being able to see the performance of others allowed me to see how they modernize the skit their own way. The class of 2014 are very funny and creative in their own little way. I like how everyone was able to play the part that they were given.

England, Ireland, and Wales (PB)
It was a long flight to London and then we had to take another plane to Ireland. I was very sick and I didn't like the plane ride at all. This made the experience of arriving to Ireland as a terrible memory because I almost had to vomit on the plane and I constantly had to use the bathroom. Moreover, I hate using the restroom whenever I'm sitting in the middle because I don't like it when people have to get up so that I can pass through. Ireland and Wales are two peaceful place to live in and the people are so nice. London can be quiet and loud at times. This all depends on if you are living in the city or in the rural area. The hotels were nice to live in and one of the hotel was very scary because it has a haunted history. I loved exploring the Buckingham palace, the two castles, and the home of Shakespeare. My fear of height was sort of conquered because I went all the way to the top of the castles and look down. The view was beautiful and I enjoyed my spring vacation. I have to say this has been a really good year and it has been full of amazing surprising adventures. Moreover, I can't get out the fact of living in Ireland, Wales, and England because it's a cool place where life is quite as well as entertaining. There are a lot of shops and the prices in these three places doesn't charge you taxes and it's cheaper than here. My experience at England, Ireland, and Wales made me what to go traveling to other places I never been to and I'm thinking about living in these three for at least a whole month.

Taming of The Shrew (CRR)
Taming of The Shrew is written by William Shakespeare and he is a well known author that everyone knows. I read a lot of books that William Shakespeare wrote and some of them were good to read. To be honest Taming of The Shrew is one of the worst book that William Shakespeare has ever written because it's not interesting. I have a feeling that the book is not going to end the way I want it to end. Meaning that Kate is going to abide to the social construction of gender roles during William Shakespeare time period. It's sad to know that Kate might not be the independent woman that everyone thinks she is because sooner or later Kate is going to throw away the tower. Another reason why I don't like Taming of the Shrew is because it doesn't end in a tradgey and I've known Shakespeare to be a tragic playwright due to all the books I've read from him such as Othello, Macbeth, Ceaser, and Romeo and Juielt. Much Ado About Nothing is better than Taming of the Shrew beause it's interesting. I guess I don't like Taming of the Shrew because I know that a woman is going to obey the man who believes that woman are weak and they would soon be dominated by the male.

Man Hunt (FC)
Playing man hunt with the class of 2014 was a fun game. I love playing it because we all had to run away from the person who is it and we all had to hide. It felt as if we were all a part of the hunger games and to be honest it was a scary feeling. The first two round was awful because we all ran away without listening to the instruction and the second time was because I got caught. When Ms. Tomlin and Ms. Spooner gave us a third chance to play man hunt, I decided to hide inside the fifth floor trash can. No one knew I was there and it was a prefect hiding place due to fact that it took a while for people to find me. It was hilarious when I heard people running for their lives and I was sitting in the trash can playing games in my phone. Eventually, someone found me because they wanted to hide behind the trash can at first and couldn't move it. They looked in and saw me. Man hunt is a fun game to play and it was fun to playing with the senior class of 2014.

Every Dog Has Its Data (SSR)
"Every Dog Has Its Data" by Nick Wingfield shows the human race how the world is evolving overtime. This evolution is bringing the world new innovations that they can use to their advantages. Dogs are no longer alone at home when no one else are there. A new innovative device allows dog owners to observe and talk to their dogs when they are not at home. The dog believes that their owner are with them causing them to listen to what there owners are saying. In the video, the dog is sitting in the couch and he apparently hears his owner telling him to get off the couch. This new device is changing how dog owners are communicating with their pets whenever they are not physically there. Dogs are known to be a man best friend and this article displays the love between the owner and the dog. You can say that the love that they have is a unbreakable bond where each species have each others back. We all want to make sure that our beloved pets are safe and sound. Animals are ready to get into messes and that is why owners want to use this device, which is an helping hand, to keep a close eye on their pets.

YouTube (PB)
I feel like YouTube has given out a helping hand to those who need it and has given others music as well as laughs. YouTube is essential resource that allows others to make videos to help people who don't know how to do certain things. I say this because I use YouTube as a source to help me solve chemistry problems that I had a hard time with in 10th and 11th grade. Not only do I use YouTube to help me with my homework and classroom comprehension, I also use to find creative way of making my project aesthetic. Thanks to whomever created YouTube to give others the opportunity to learn from each other. YouTube is use as a form to laugh at videos that other people share online, which causes others to have a happy. I don't know what I would do if there wasn't any funny videos because life will considered to be too boring. Music is the cherry pie of our life because we all can relate to it and dance to it. YouTube provide us with music and lyrics to the music that we love the most. We can those music anywhere and anytime we want. This is why YouTube is a great online source/tool because it can be used for academics and/or for entertainment.

Economics (ID)
My class has finally finish watching the movie "Bamboozled" made by Spike Lee. This is the first time I ever watched this movie, and the movie has left me breathless because it discusses how the media makes money out of us. Even though the media makes money through the usage of trends that minorities set, which can be offensive at times, we don't say anything about it. Instead, we go with the flow and do not go against what society expect minorities to do. The movie shows how the audience supported the T.V. show that Pierre Delacroix created, which was an offensive show to black people because they had racial comments and most importantly characters in black faces. We allow the media to hoodwinked or bamboozled us with advertisement that shows that we the minorities are not made to be successful. Not only does this movie show how media makes money, it also shows how people are willing to do anything for money even if it means disrespecting their own race. At the end of the movie, Pierre Delacroix quoted James Baldwin when he died. The quote was "People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become, and they pay for it, very simply, by the lives they lead." Delacroix created a monster and became a monster and that is the reason why he shot himself. This movie revealed life lessons that we should all hold onto and learn from.

College (FC)
I have submitted my application to every college that I have applied to, which was a relief for me because they can review my application thoroughly. I though if I submit my mid year report on Monday that I don't have to submit anything else. Unfortunately, I was wrong and didn't get the memo of our all the financial forms that I need to submit to each and everyone of my colleges. To be honest I though I had to only submit the FAFSA and CSS Profile. Knowing that I had to send in my parent's tax return, a non filer tax return form, a packet that every college have sent to me, a written letter discussing my financial circumstance, and the social security benefit that my dad and I received in 2013 is very overwhelming. This week has been very stressful for me because I had to gather all of the information that will be mail out to each college on Monday along with submitting my mid year report. I am glad I can use the school copy machine and stamps to help me give each of my colleges everything they need because I was able to save money. Moreover, the only thing I have to worry about is the admission decision and financial package from each of my schools. Hope every school that I have applied to have received all of the information that they need from me, so that way I don't worry about colleges missing anything they need to review my application.

The Heart of Darkness (CRR)
It feels like an eternity when reading the Heart of Darkness for the first time. This novel has been considered a great novella by the English literature. The book addresses the good and evil that exist in an environment and foreshadowed many of the themes that define modern literature. Conrad is an expert in literary devices, and his style of writing leaves the reader thinking. This is why this book was difficult to read, but pulling out evidence for our essay was easy to find. Breaking down the evidence can take a lot of time because there is a lot of interpretation one can make about a quote or a section of the book. Moreover, the book itself has many interpretation into why Conrad's chooses to write about Marlow experience of rescuing a company agent from a remote station in the heart of the Congo. Marlow describes the atmosphere of the Congo River as a mysterious and perilous place. What Marlow sees on his journey horrifies him, and what he encounter with Kurtz reveals questions and assumptions about civilization, human nature, the dark side of a person, and the effects of imperialism that we all touch upon in our final essay based on Marlow's description. At the end day, I am glad were done with the book and we learned how to break down this difficult text.

My Parakeets (FC)
I have two parakeets that look exactly like the ones above. As you can see the ones above are peaceful and quiet; however, my birds are noisy and tend to fight a lot. Whenever I'm talking to someone over the phone, they can hear my birds chirping. My family and go to Walmart to buy these two birds food such as Premium Gourmet, which is on sale. I had these parakeets for about 2 and half years. Before I had these two parakeets that are still living. I use to have two other parakeets who died in a tragic accident. One bird died because I squeezed him to hard, and he hit himself on the refrigerator. I was native back then, so please don't judge me. The other bird couldn't bear being all a lone and decided to take another route in life. She left out the window, and we never heard her from her again. That's how we got two new parakeets, and they lasted a very long time in our house. I think they are happy because they haven't left this house knowing that the window is open. This is why I love them. Even though they don't let me touch them because they bite really hard. Hopefully, the bird who died on my hand will rest in peace and he was one of my favorites.

Girl Interrupted (SSR)
Girl Interrupted is a
movie directed by James Mangold who screenplays the life of Susanna Kaysen on
the big screen in order to describe the life of people that suffer from
psychological disorder. While watching the movie, most of the things that the characters
say to each other cause me to feel sympathy for what they are going through.
It’s as if they are all going through a journey to help find themselves which
is very difficult for them to do. This journey can make the individual or break
the individual. Two characters that are going through a psychological disorder
are Susanna Kaysen and Daisy who are also roommates with each other in the
asylum.
Susanna psychological disorder is borderline personality
and depression, and she was sent to the asylum because she overdoses herself
with pills. When Lisa Cody shows Susanna her profile, the psychiatrist
diagnoses Susanna with psychoneurotic depression and borderline personality.
She denies this because the symptoms of “highly intelligent but in denial” is
something that frustrates her. Susanna thinks that she is worthless and is
always vacillating between her emotions causing her to make “ambivalent” her favorite
word. The treatment and therapy that Susanna is given are pills for her
depression and a humanistic therapy for her borderline personality. When she
attends therapy with Dr. Sonia Wick, Susanna starts out by telling her that she
is ambivalent and the therapist asked her what that word meant. Susanna tells
the therapist that she doesn’t care what the word mean, so the therapist tells her the meaning of
the word causing Susanna to stay quiet.
Daisy is the roommate of Susanna and she always stays in
her room. Lisa notices that Daisy always has chicken under her bed which causes
Daisy to become angry. Daisy was released and provided a home for Lisa and
Susanna when they ran away. Lisa tells Daisy what she thinks of her by
revealing that Daisy has an incestuous relationship with her father and that
Daisy likes it. Moreover, Lisa continues to tell Daisy that she is not jealous
of her because Daisy is the same person who would always live by her father’s
rules. She also tells Daisy how the chicken represents her father and takes her
hand in which Daisy has a lot of laceration because she is cutting herself.
Daisy is going through depression and obsessive – compulsive disorder because
she always obsessed in satisfying her father causing her to
eat a lot of chicken and asking him to buy her pretty things. Her depression
disorder is caused by the simple fact that she’s in denial with herself and her
past is always hunting her. Daisy wants to repress the past, but it’s
impossible. This is shown by how Daisy is constantly cutting herself in order
to alleviate her pain and situation. Daisy is receiving pills to calm her
anxiety or to help her constipate; moreover, she should be taking
psychoanalytic therapy. This therapy makes her unconscious become conscious and
it helps understand the early stages of her life that explains why she acts
the way she does. Unfortunately, Daisy ended up killing herself.
The girl’s psychological disorder causes each and every
one of them to not live their life making them feel as if they can’t fit into
this world. Susanna learns that nothing is impossible and that she can overcome
her disorder because she’s still alive. Daisy and Susanna disorder made them
vulnerable and it shows that they need to take their therapy seriously in order
to cure all their wounds.

Government (ID)
America is known as the
land of opportunities, the dream of myriad of Americans living in the United
States. “Give me liberty or give me death” said Patrick Henry, who gave the
speech to his fellow patriots. Galvanizing the beginning of the American Revolution,
and accentuating the importance of fighting for independence from Great
Britain. Furthermore, the event was a nascent of the rise of the American
dream. When the patriots fought for independence, which was one of the dreams
that came true through Americans struggle, it opens the door to many other
opportunities that are possible of becoming true. The American dream is a
reality to all Americans willing to fight for it. It is a reality because of
mobilization, opportunities, and receiving a better life through one’s hard
work. Fighting to achieve a better a life
can be accomplished by every American willing to fall and get right back up. This is what I learned in government throughout this semester when we were
studying the people who makes up the government and the different types of government shown in
the movies that we watched in class as well as the citizenship notebook questions.
